Isn't it an absolute delight when our deeds or thoughts touch or inspire people? I love this feeling. It's a very small achievement on our part as human beings. To bring some happiness in someone's life without changing our attitude, is in itself an act of kindness. Since we've become so self-centered and obsessed with our own individual lives, such little things do bring happiness. I feel immensely good within my heart to hear someone being touched by my small act. One quote that really got my attention today was this- "I think one of the greatest feelings in the world is when someone openly tells you how much you mean to them. Stuff like that is so rare." This just took me back into so many memories where when I was told this I didn't like it because I didn't trust the people saying that to me. How naive and foolish I was! I loathed their affection with such distrust. I was learning and I would like to believe I learn from my past mistakes.
So, take this opportunity to vocal your thoughts for someone's kindness and concern for you. Tell your parents how much they mean to you and their efforts to provide you everything. Tell them you love them. Forget the anger, past fights or any other negative feeling. It's gone. What remains today is this time! Utilize it. Tell someone how they inspire you. Tell them about their kindness and good work. It will not just make them happy but that positive spirit will affect everyone they come in contact with. One little smile can lighten up so many faces and hearts. Humans after all thrive on goodness of character and kindness. Nothing, I believe, can replace these feelings. Compassion is a priceless virtue. All of us long for comfort in the arms of a kind person, someone who understands our pain and joy, who rejoices in our perkiness, who always stands by to hear our broken heart and mend it too. That's why they say, choose your words carefully. They have the power to make or break people. I believe in kindness. What goes around comes around. In fact, kindness should really just mean to us more than any material comfort. If we are kind to ourselves we will be kind to everyone we meet around. While this seems like a dreamy thought, it's not impossible or unachievable. Really, try to be kind to yourself first, then your kids, parents, everyone else. We never know when somebody could be going through a distressing situation in their lives, our one small act of kindness, be it smiling or asking them if they are okay, could help in relieving their pain just a bit. Kindness is infectious. Use it. :) :)
