Finding myself again.

It pains me to see my friends betraying my trust. Of course, meditation and all the other worldly techniques don't help while expressing the endless reasons as to why they did this! They say Friends are Forever... I don't think so. I read an interesting quote yesterday that goes, "People love your work until they have to pay for it." I think it's the same with friends too. They are by your side, in your homes and hearts until they are also getting benefitted in a way or two. Benefit of your good company, your extended friends circle or any other such reasons.

I have to learn how to cope up with this- getting betrayed by people I trust and especially if they happen to be friends. People shouldn't and just can't walk all over us because we are nice. They have no right to do so.

These were my thoughts two days ago. I was filled with an angst. Then something happened. I met somebody I wouldn't have otherwise. He gave me such a wonderful perspective on life and living it. On righteousness, on being kind, displaying kindness and the unnecessary expectations we harbour from people all the time. He really made me think and grow out of the negativity I was drowning myself in.
The other one I met a night earlier gave me even more food for consideration. I have turned into this constantly serious, harbouring anger and being cynical about everything person. He shared with me his insights on how he looks at things from all angles and how one must not trash everything that comes their way. It is important to be angry, but more important is to focus on the positive every action, situation we find ourselves trapped in.

I will write here without any hesitation that I have been holding a silent; sometimes visible, sometimes invisible grudge against a lot of things. And this is not how I always was. I have been a very optimistic person. My upbringing was devoid of negative opinions about the world. I was taught to respect not judge people and their opinions or actions. Somehow along the way of growing up, I forgot and pushed this side of mine somewhere in the far recesses of my persona. Today, I am just so glad these two people, my friends, made me aware and opened my eyes to that ME!

Book Tales

A cancelled lunch date led my feet astray to the book treasures on Flora Fountain. This happened on a busy Monday afternoon. I promised myself I wouldn't engage my eyes on books anymore after I ended up spending a whole lot more than I usually do. It feels like an addiction, something I can't let go off. While I am sure books will and should not be recognised as harmful addiction, I am painfully aware of the fact that splurging money on anything every time we see it is unhealthy. Of course, I know the psychology and the hard facts too, but buying books feels like conquering the access way to treasures of an inexpressible happy state of mind. When I was young, losing myself in the book world was not just for the introduction into the big wide unseen world but also for the love of imagination. I was fascinated with colours and story telling, had a thirst for adventure that seemed strangely missing in my childhood as it was so pronounced in Enid Blyton's books. I could n...

Forward march

Suddenly I've started feeling envious of all the 24 year-old youngsters. Not that I'm old compared to them, but I wish I WERE 24 today to possess the same energy, liveliness and excitement to do things. With these thoughts I was reeking in a wee bit misery last night, when I decided to install the Amazon Kindle app on my phone. It asked me a few preferences and rate some books for further reading suggestions. To my utter surprise, I saw books by Cheryl Strayed on the list. I had read about Strayed's WILD because of the movie promotions. So, I started off by reading Brave Enough: A mini instruction manual for the soul, intrigued by its title. The book consists of Quotes that helped Cheryl (forgive my first name calling, but I feel like she is my soul sister after reading the book), go through stressful times in her life while growing up. She writes about noting quotes that inspired her, everywhere in her house and places where she could read them always. I instantly knew w...
