An Evening by the Sea.

I write and delete words, rewrite some more, only to find myself jumbled at my confused to be-narrative about a saturday walk with dear friends. One of them, a native and the other new to Mumbai. I like the feeling of excitement that still grips me when I am meeting my favorite people. It involves laughter, primarily; lots of "attentive" banter on the city, architecture, people; and most important fond memories to carry forward.
Typically saturdays are always so full of life- people crowding at Marine Drive, at Gateway of India, at the Chowpatty beaches, and cafes particularly. It seems like the entire city is flocking out of their nests towards the sea. And, it adds to the charm of the walk if we have a photographer friend with us. Shades of sea, lamp-posts and quirky panoramas of the citylights. Are we living a blessed life? Hell YES!

I know that I am a romantic at heart when it comes to sitting by the sea watching sunsets and quietly reminiscing poetry with a dazzled mind. Yes, I do it all the time- even when I have company.
Last saturday was especially nice because I met two of my closest friends- the people I trust the most- and also, made a new friend. It was nice to get out of the self-imposed house-arrest I've put myself in for studying. Such meetings also give me a sense of belonging and make me feel at ease over life's tough times.

I often wonder if we make friends because we like some traits in people or its because we see our own reflection in them?! Either way, knowing that there are people who respect your thoughts and also, keep you sane is a great gift. I learned so much more about myself while interacting with these friends. One, that I no longer get hyper-excited over issues that trouble me which could possibly have little or no influence on my life; and two, that I am capable of listening to the right things said to me. There's no conflict or chaos like it used to be, when I heard people talking to me in the past. I really have put together my act.

Moving on, I only wish to keep these bonds held strongly in mutual trust, respect and affection.
Afterall, THESE ARE THE TIMES TO REMEMBER! The memories will last forevermore.
Good day to everyone~

Book Tales

A cancelled lunch date led my feet astray to the book treasures on Flora Fountain. This happened on a busy Monday afternoon. I promised myself I wouldn't engage my eyes on books anymore after I ended up spending a whole lot more than I usually do. It feels like an addiction, something I can't let go off. While I am sure books will and should not be recognised as harmful addiction, I am painfully aware of the fact that splurging money on anything every time we see it is unhealthy. Of course, I know the psychology and the hard facts too, but buying books feels like conquering the access way to treasures of an inexpressible happy state of mind. When I was young, losing myself in the book world was not just for the introduction into the big wide unseen world but also for the love of imagination. I was fascinated with colours and story telling, had a thirst for adventure that seemed strangely missing in my childhood as it was so pronounced in Enid Blyton's books. I could n...

Forward march

Suddenly I've started feeling envious of all the 24 year-old youngsters. Not that I'm old compared to them, but I wish I WERE 24 today to possess the same energy, liveliness and excitement to do things. With these thoughts I was reeking in a wee bit misery last night, when I decided to install the Amazon Kindle app on my phone. It asked me a few preferences and rate some books for further reading suggestions. To my utter surprise, I saw books by Cheryl Strayed on the list. I had read about Strayed's WILD because of the movie promotions. So, I started off by reading Brave Enough: A mini instruction manual for the soul, intrigued by its title. The book consists of Quotes that helped Cheryl (forgive my first name calling, but I feel like she is my soul sister after reading the book), go through stressful times in her life while growing up. She writes about noting quotes that inspired her, everywhere in her house and places where she could read them always. I instantly knew w...
