Here I am! After a long year and an equally long hiatus from the blog world. And I hope to be more regular and consistent henceforth. What prompted me to start writing again is some food and good talk with a friend. I'll start with movies. Ever since Atul and Nidhi (my friends) taught me how to download movies, I am addicted and have started building up quite a collection.
Last week, I saw Adam(2009) starring Hugh Dancy, who I thought was brilliant as a young man with Asperger's Syndrome. The movie follows the life of this individual who has a social interaction problem and how after his father dies, he is left alone to figure out how to live. It was heart-wrenching to see what happens with people with autism who are left without any support to kneel on after the death of their parents. Unfortunately, society treats them in a very insensitive manner.
The Squid and the Whale(2005) is another delicate movie on a very sensitive topic. It showcases the lives of two youngsters whose parents get divorced and the brothers, one a 17 year old high school student and the other his 13 year old brother get caught in their parents ugly clashes. The film asserts how childhood is ruined and children lose their innocence due to bad decisions taken by parents in the heat of arguments.
The Savages(2007) is yet another tale of two grown up children left to care for their father who suffers from Dementia. The guilt of not being there for each other is seen through the interaction between the brother and the sister. Such movies really do enrich our lives because they portray us and the real world we all live in. And because they stay true to the realism of life’s everyday moments that see us laughing hard a minute and worrying the next.
This is all for today. More about movies in another post. Movie Therapy is a great way to beat the blues. Wow! Do I feel good and happy? Absolutely! :-)
Thank you, M.
I haven't watched any of these(have seen the trailer for Adam though) but seems like I have a few good options now :)
