Hip Hop Shakespeare!

This following narrative is from my appearance at the TATA Literature Live fest 2012, on Nov 1st at NCPA. I attended this amazing musical experiment called the Hip Hop Shakespeare performed by The HIP HOP SHAKESPEARE COMPANY-  THSC! What a beautiful night! I always had an interest in Shakespeare's works, and THSC revived it! Of all the performances i remember, the following stand out: 1. The Othello Prologue by Lori. WOW! Her narration stings your heart, and her focus and stress on syllables made me appreciate the combination of words and music, all over again. Here's a link for one of her studio sessions for the same. You can't miss it. 2. Romeo by Angelina Roz. She lights up and literally takes the stage by fire. Her voice is so warm, and strong at the same time, it gave such joy to me. Her 'Romeo! O Romeo! Where art thou Romeo?' is still lingering with me! Very few artists have the power to do that. Here's a link for the studio sessions of the

Book Review: Istanbul- Memories of a city by Orhan Pamuk

This is an interesting read! When I studied Hagia Sophia in school, its beauty imprinted my heart! Turkey has always been a mystical land of the Great Eastern Culture and symbolized to me Constantinople's conquests and Constantine's architectural vision that made Istanbul one of the best cities during the Roman/Ottoman Empire.   The cover art is sheer beauty! The warm, fuzzy yellow catches the eye first and immediately touches the heart. This is my first Orhan Pamuk book and I am in total awe of this wonderful writer. His melancholic verses on his city and childhood, dreams and magic, walks through the city made me peep into my childhood memories and all those fascinating walks through the by-lanes of Mumbai. Every word of his resonated with my memories of Mumbai- the city I love so much. Perhaps, sometimes its difficult to understand how people fall in love with cultures or cities or Urban Spaces(such an architectural term I use here!), however, people with pa

... Precious Findings!

This is Casa Mila, designed by Antoni Gaudi! One of my most favourite buildings! Since, my Dad took my laptop today to his workplace I decided to use the Desktop! So amazed was I by the apparent finds on my drive, I thought I might as well share it here! I found some beautiful pictures downloaded from the internet. They are from a few months ago and not even segregated in folders which I normally do!                                                                                                                                I don't even remember why I downloaded these two! Probably for the beautiful arches and facade details. And this is titled Fantasy Architecture! WOW!! I've always loved Gaudi's work! His Casa Mila has inspired me in so many of my designs! Come to think of it, I really think now I have some aversion to straight lines! Minimalism and Efficient is how I think in terms of design! This is a Tile detail from Park Gue
